Lessons from Vacation Bible School

Well, we just finished our week at Vacation Bible School.  It was a great week.  This was the first year my daughter could be a helper – boy time flies.  We both helped in the Craft Room, under the director of our wonderful Craft Leader Ruth.  (The same wonderful friend who created the Celebration Plate I posted about a while back.)

My favorite part of Vacation Bible School is when everyone is in the Sanctuary.  Each school grade wears a different color T-shirt, as do the helpers and leaders.  It is so wonderful to see that rainbow of colors filling the Sanctuary where we all sing praise songs and learn the new bible verse for the day.  I always love what the kids can learn about God during the week of Bible School, but this year’s theme and verses were really special to me.  They helped remind me God that is in control and we can trust Him.  I thought I’d share the week’s verses with you.  I think we all could use these reminders.

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE . . . TRUST GOD!

“People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord

looks at the heart.”     1 Samuel 16:7

NO MATTER HOW YOU FEEL . . . TRUST GOD!

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God.”  John 14:1

NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE DO . . . TRUST GOD!

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.”  Isaiah 40:3

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS . . . TRUST GOD!

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate

us from God’s love.”   Romans 8:38

NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE . . . TRUST GOD!

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

  1. I loved the verses you quoted. They reminded me of a poem I read by Ruth Bell Graham: Lord, when my soul is weary and my heart is tired and sore, and I have that failing feeling that I can’t take it anymore; then let me know the freshening found in simple, childlike prayer, when the kneeling soul knows surely that a listening Lord is there.
