Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  How will you be celebrating this holiday of love?  As I walked my daughter into school this morning, my heart was warmed by the kids in the younger grades carrying in platters of heart shaped cookies and trays of cupcakes decorated with red and white sprinkles.  At the grocery store, several men were buying bouquets of roses and were spending quite a bit of time in the greeting card aisle trying to pick out the perfect card.

Advertisements everywhere!   Flowers.  Chocolates.  Candy.  Hearts.  Cards.  Spa Gift Certificates.  Surf and Turf.  Champagne.  Lots to choose from.  One advertisement that caught my eye was the promotion by White Castle.  A unique dining offer.  You get to enjoy those tiny, tasty burgers while seated at tables covered in fine linen (red or white tablecloth) and adorned with a vase of roses or carnations.  Funny thing, you need reservations for this fine dining experience.  Cute.

Lots of cute ideas.  I saw this magazine with ideas for a Valentine Dinner.  They placed the shrimp tail to tail and head to head, forming a heart shape.  Cute.

I have a friend who has a tradition with her husband and kids.  They always have a nice dinner at home in their dining room and use the good china.  I think that’s nice.  Valentine’s is all about spending quality time with the one or ones you love.

We are going to stay home too.  I’m not one for crowds, and restaurants will surely be packed tonight.  I’m making one of our favorite dishes – ORZO.  And for dessert, chocolate cheesecake, another one of our favorites.  You can find both of those recipes on this site.

Hope you have a wonderful day however you spend it.   Showing and displaying LOVE.

A new command I give you:  Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)
