Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

A few weeks back at Vacation Bible School, someone made a tasty dessert for the volunteers.  It was a brownie topped with marshmallow and peanut butter chocolate Rice Krispies.  I thought it was pretty tasty, but thought I would enjoy it more if it weren’t on top of a brownie.  I’ve had the Original Rice Krispie Treats and I’ve had peanut butter ones (I’ve already given you that recipe), but I’ve never had Chocolate Rice Krispies.  So, I thought I would experiment a little and make a batch of Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies.  They turned out really yummy and will surely satisfy your chocolate cravings and your sweet tooth.

Here’s the recipe:

Non-stick cooking spray

1 stick of butter

10 oz. package of mini marshmallows

1 cup of creamy peanut butter (I use JIF.)

2 cups of Milk Chocolate Chips (do NOT use semi-sweet – use Milk Chocolate.)

6 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal

Spray the bottom and sides of a large pot with non-stick cooking spray.

Add the butter and marshmallows and cook over a low heat until the marshmallows begin to melt.

Add in the peanut butter and the chocolate chips, stirring constantly until all ingredients have melted together.

Remove from heat.

Stir in the Rice Krispies.  (Be sure to coat your mixing spoon with non-stick spray).

Spread and press mixture into a 9 x 13 pan coated with non-stick spray.

Note:  I always cut my Krispie Treats immediately after I press them into the pan.  I find that easier than cutting them after they have hardened a bit.

Serve and Enjoy!
