BLESSING MIX – A Thanksgiving Treat

A few years ago, my daughter’s friend Allie passed out the cutest treats to her school classmates.  I thought it was such a nice idea, that I saved the paper she typed that went along with the treat.  I want to share this idea with you.  The treat was a mixture of some of our favorite snacks housed inside a plastic Ziploc sandwich bag.  The note was typed on a paper that had a cute autumn leave border.

Here’s the note, which includes the yummy recipe for this Thanksgiving treat.

BLESSING MIX

BUGLES:  Shaped like a cornucopia or Horn of Plenty, a symbol of our nation’s abundance.

PRETZELS:  Arms folded in prayer, a freedom sought by those who founded our country.

CANDY CORN:  The sacrifices of the Pilgrims’ first winter; food was so scarce that settlers survived on just a few kernels of corn a day.

NUTS OR SEEDS:  Promise of a future harvest, one we will reap only if seeds are planted and tended with diligence.

DRIED FRUITS:  Harvest gifts from our bountiful land.

M & M’s:  Memories of those who came before us to lead us into a blessed future.

HERSHEY’s KISS:  The love of family and friends that sweetens our lives.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
